He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennie Helland and Helen Helland (Johnson); his wife Lois Helland (Erickson); his children, Jim, Roger, Dale Helland and Sandy Helland; and his brothers, Bennie and Joseph Helland.

He is survived by: his children, Jerry Helland (Joanne), Judy Helland (late Michael Stamm) and Nancy Pfeffer (late Jim); his grandchildren, Dustin Helland (Stephanie), Jason Helland (Sara), Jeromy Helland (Amanda), Jon Helland (Kelly), Jessica Labhart (Brent), Danelle Shouse, Ryan Helland (Michelle), Cortney Soto (Joey), Matt Helland (Justine Ursua) and Khloe Helland; and his daughters-in-law, Jenelle Helland and Terri Helland. He is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
