She was predeceased by: her parents, John Johnson and Hurby Johnson (Twait); her husband Russell Cassem; and her granddaughter Lori Carlson. She is survived by: her children, Gary Cassem of Morris, Susan Carlson (Don) of Newark and Craig Cassem (Amy) of Diamond; her grandchildren, Kris Massey (Matt), Steve Carlson (Kristy), Julie Poplawski (Ronnie), Erik Cassem, Brian Cassem (A. Maria), Bradley Cassem and Jeffrey Cassem; her great grandchildren, Brianna, Brendan, Kiersten Massey, Rylie, Zoey Carlson, Trevor and Tyler Poplawski; and her sister-in-law Barbara Van Bergen. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church (202 W Jefferson St, Morris, IL 60450). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM at the Evergreen Cemetery (1300 Cemetery Rd, Morris, IL 60450). A reception will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Turtles Tap (1400 N Division St, Morris, IL 60450).
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Betty's memory to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
