He was predeceased by : his parents, George Sr. Blackert and Mabel Blackert; his parents-in-law, Herman and Helen Gentz; his siblings, Marjorie Hinterthuer (Ray), Donna Blackert, George Jr. (Terry), Keith and Bob; and his sister-in-law Georgia Gentz.
He is survived by : his wife Connie; his daughters, LeAnn (Ivy) of Kelowna, British Columbia and Tara (Karen) of Eagan, MN; and his grandson Zachary Blackert of Eau Claire, WI. He is also survived by eight nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and many friends.
A memorial fund has been established.
