He was predeceased by : his parents, Marvin Wiersema and Florence Wiersema (Boelkens); and his nephew Nolan Richmond. He is survived by : his wife Jan; his sons, Eric Wiersema (Lisa) of Morrison and Gregg Wiersema (Jackie) of Chadwick, IL; and his grandchildren, Hailey, Matthew Wiersema, Alicen, Cooper Wiersema, Italian and Amy Monti. He is also survived by three sisters.

A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
