He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert E. DeSpain and Joyce A. DeSpain (Letterman); his siblings, Winella "Wendy" DeSpain and Robert Eugene DeSpain, Jr. of Patriot, IN; and his mother-in-law Anne Swanson.

He is survived by : his wife Connie Swanson-DeSpain; his siblings, Marta Rutledge (Doug), Erie, David DeSpain and Wendall DeSpain of Terre Haute, IN; his father-in-law Roland Swanson; and his siblings-in-law, Steve Swanson and Hope MacLennan (Clinton). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Gibson - Bode Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ltd. - Erie (616 Main St, Erie, IL 61250). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
