He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter C. Peterson and Cora Geraldine Peterson (McCune); his daughter Kathy Jo Peterson; and his sister Shirley Berry. He is survived by: his wife Joanne Peterson; his children, Paula Jansma (Ron Williams) of Morrison, IL, Lori Peterson of Morrison, IL, Jerry Peterson (Barbara) of Morrison, IL and Terry Peterson (Teresa) of Clinton, IA; his grandchildren, Rachel Dorpinghaus (Logan), Courtney Jansma and Brandon Jansma; his great grandchildren, Chad Jansma, Jayden Jansma, Michael Thornton, Salem Dorpinghaus and Beckham Dorpinghaus; and his sister Barbara Shivel of Lawrence, KS..
A memorial has been established to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
