We bid farewell to Darryl Nelson of Morton, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on June 17, 2025 at the age of 82. Darryl touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his mother Reva Bushman; and his son Mark Ivor. He is survived by: his children, Breck Nelson (Janie) of Greenville, Shay Nelson of Greenville, Sara Harkins (Ben) of Travelers Rest and Matthew Nelson (Ann) of Brimfield, Illinois; his grandchildren, Zachary Nelson (Ruth), Rosie Baker (Ross), Brooke Kleinik (Jared), Gabrielle Nelson (Ross Robinson), Sophie Perez (Gabriel), Ava Nelson, Kaiden Nelson, Josie Harkins, Audrey Harkins, Presley Harkins, Scarlet Harkins, Wes Harkins, Fiona Harkins, Kai Nelson, Cael Nelson and Maud Nelson; and his great grandchildren, Addie, Clark, Mark Baker and Axel Kleinik.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home (140 S Detroit Ave, Morton, IL 61550). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery (2177 Veterans Road, Morton, IL 61550).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morton Fire Department or Midwest Food Bank.
