She was predeceased by: her parents, John D. Gossman and Mary Gossman (James); her siblings, Shirley Feger and John Gossman; and her husband William Vandenberg.

She is survived by: her sons, Greg Wabel (Lisa), Mark Wabel (Sherry) and Gary Wabel; her grandchildren, Zach, Shelby, Hunter, Leah, Sam, Ashley, Austin and Anthony; her great grandchildren, Veronica, Xion and Kai; and her siblings, Lynn Corey (Dan) and David Gossman (Tracy). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to OSF Hospice Home or to the Alzheimer's Association.
