He was predeceased by: his parents, Delmar Gidcumb and Elinor Gidcumb (Driggs); his wife Sheila Kays; his son Daniel Bailey Kays; his brother Thomas Gidcumb; his nieces and nephews, Joshua Churchill, Travis Ramero, Nadina Taylor and Ashanti Romero; his brother-in-law Marvin Jones; and his close friend Eric Delong.
He is survived by: his girlfriend Jane Buttrum; his children, Stephen Kays, Scotty Kays, Bobbie Windle (Amy) and Kelly Hurt (Scott); his grandchildren, Makenzie Kays, Rylee Kays, Scotty Kays, Jr., Jeff Windle, Hank Windle (Patty), Megan Jackson, Emily Hurt and Hailie Tingley (Thane); and his sisters, Linda Jones, Rebecca Hammond (Tom), Teresa Taylor (Jim), Denise Ramero and Debbie Churchill (Norman). He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and several cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home (1500 N Cherry St, Mt Carmel, IL 62863). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
