She was predeceased by: her parents, Virgil Eugene Jackman and Hester Louise Jackman (Ilant); her husband Gordon Kirkman; her brothers, Dale Jackman and Jim Jackman; and her son-in-law Charles Sanders.

She is survived by: her children, Janice Palmer (Sam) of Phoenix, Janet Sanders of Allendale and Kent Kirkman of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; her sisters, Wanda Johnson and Charlene Putnam (David); her grandchildren, Tim Sanders, Samuel Palmer, Summer Milroy, Tyler Kirkman, Clayton Kirkman and Carly Kirkman; her great grandchildren, Zachary Palmer, Lily Kirkman, Conner Kirkman and Lola Gates; and her great great grandchild Violet Palmer.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Short-Cunningham Funeral Home (527 N Mulberry St, Mt Carmel, IL 62863). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ruby's name to the First Christian Church Music Department.

“Ruby was my older sister. I remember when I was a child, she would comb and curl my hair and yes, she even let me tag along when she was dating. When she and Gordon married and had twin girls, I would often spend the day with Ruby and help care for the twins when she did her house work. I knew when I married and moved away from the area, David and I always had a place to stay. She was such a "Classy" lady, I will miss her so very much!!”
