We announce the death of Aaron McCoy of Mount Vernon, Illinois, who passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 32. Aaron will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Mary (Bledsoe), Bill McCoy and Linda Edwards; and his pet Bud. He is survived by: his parents, Rodney McCoy and Kandace "Lorri" McCoy (Smith); his close friend Brendan Barva; his brother Justin McCoy (Terry); his nieces, Elizabeth Grace, Remi Rae and Lillian Lorraine; his nephew Royce Reid of Mount Vernon; his aunts, Dana Barnum of Ina and Jillian Edwards of Norris City; his uncle Bill McCoy (LeAnne) of Colorado; his cousins, Eva Edwards of Tennessee, Dakotah Hill (Michael) of Mount Vernon, Darakah Barnum of Mount Vernon, Dallas Barnum of Nashville, R. J. and Reignah Barnum of Ina; his grandparents, Kenny and Linda Smith of Irvington; his brother Brendan Barva of Goreville; and his pet Dookie. He is also survived by cousins, and great aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the West Side Missionary Baptist Church (2900 Veterans Memorial Dr, Mt Vernon, IL 62864). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Columbus Regional Hospital Foundation, Columbus, Indiana, or the American Family Association, Tupelo, Mississippi.
