She was predeceased by: her parents, Isaac Leland and Hallie Mae Bayley (Bradford); her husband John L. McElroy; and her siblings, David Bayley and Susan Hake.
She is survived by: her sons, John McElroy, Angelo Castillo of Trenton, Chris McElroy (Kristine) of Mount Vernon, Jeff McElroy (Sonya) of Mount Vernon and Aaron McElroy (Melissa) of Jeffersonton, Virginia; her grandchildren, Hunter McElroy, Lane McElroy of Jack McElroy, J. T and Nick McElroy; her great grandchild Everett McElroy; and her siblings, Larry Bayley (Denise) of House Springs, Mike Bayley (Lisa) of Houston, Texas and Deborah Provinzano (Frank Rick) of Highland, Illinois.. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 22nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hughey Funeral Home (1314 Main St, Mt Vernon, IL 62864). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 22nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be made in Anita's honor to the First Baptist Church of Sesser, Illinois.
