He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Hamilton and Faustina Hamilton (Border); his siblings, David Monroe Hamilton, Jackie Lowery, Robert Eugene Hamilton, Ronald Dean Hamilton, Richard Hamilton, Theodore Hamilton and Theda Hamilton; and his father-in-law William Floyd Bumpus.

He is survived by: his mother-in-law Teresa Hamliton (Bumpus); his children, Kelly Leann Landry (Jim) of Kankakee, Stacey Lynn Chobanian (Wayne Jones) of Bluford and Heather Marie McConnaughay (Ivan) of Mount Vernon; his grandchildren, Mollie Landry (Rainie Landry), Alexandria Burns of Saint Louis, Gina Lynn Chobanian (Jesse Paul Chobanian), Ivan Eugene McConnaughay of Centralia, Hannah Marie Tomes (Bryan) of Carbondale and Madison Grace McConnaughay (Austin Russell McConnaughay); his great grandchild Cayden Jacob Tomes; his mother-in-law Greta Bumpus of Mount Vernon; his siblings, Patricia Mick (Delmar) of Mount Vernon and Charles Hamilton of Dahlgren, Illinois; and his sisters-in-law, Karen Fink (Lonnie) of Louisville, Debi Johnson (Don) of Thompsonville and Cama Morgan (Mark) of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
