She was predeceased by: her parents, Sidney Smart and Bernice Smart (Mattox); her husband Joseph Carter; her siblings, Wendall Smart, Richard Smart, Don Smart, Jim Smart and Edmund Smart; and her great grandchild Auora Derry.

She is survived by: her children, Brenda Derry and Randy Carter (Sheila); her grandchildren, Brett Marlow (Naomi), Brandon Derry (April), Jennifer Derry Haynes (James), Jackie Cowan (T. J.) and Andrea Carter; and her great grandchildren, Josh Marlow, Jada Haynes, Jazmine Haynes, Norah Cowan, Miles Cowan, Bryce Derry (Azera), Ava Derry, Hudson Derry, Savannah Marlow and Declan Marlow. She is also survived by Several Great-Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
