He was predeceased by: his parents, Owen D. "Bud" Herbert and Betty Jean Herbert (Stevenson); his daughter Melanie Jo Herbert; and his sister Nancy Herbert. He is survived by: his wife Betty Herbert (Secrease); his children, Mandy Herbert-Stachyra (David Milano) of Mount Vernon and Jeremy Del Herbert of O'Fallon, Illinois; his grandchildren, Althea Stachyra (Ryan Hill) of Evansville, Silas Stachyra of Mount Vernon, Baylor Herbert of O'Fallon and Arlo Herbert of O'Fallon; his sister Debbie Herbert of Mount Vernon; Tom Stachyra of O'Fallon and Renee Mueth. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
During Covid, a YouTube of the Farm album was rediscovered internationally, receiving well over a million hits.
Memorials may be made in Del's honor to Jagger's Doggie Daycare or the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
