He was predeceased by : his brother Matthew Burris; his uncle Jeff Burris; his cousin Ryan Burris; and his close friends, Cody Tate, David Jay and David Sloan.

He is survived by : his mother Valerie Patterson (Burris); his stepfather Roger Patterson of Mount Vernon; his daughter Lexi Johnson of Mount Vernon, Illinois; his sister Jessica Baird (Branden) of Bluford, Illinois; his nieces, Holley Whitlock (Bill) and Alison Baird; his nephew Philip Baird; and his great-nieces, Karsyn and Lennox Whitlock.

Memorials may be made in Richard's honor to the Funeral Home for Funeral Expenses or to his daughter, Alexis.
