She is survived by: her former husband Jerry Keele; her children, Paula Keele (Diane) and Todd Keele (Robin); her grandchildren, Candace Meyers (Andrew), Joshua Keele (Sabrina), Emma Cross (Grant) and Karsyn Keele-Routh (Dakota); her great grandchildren, Kaleb Keele, Kayden Keele, Jaxon Meyers and Carter Meyers; and her friend Alan Miller. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in Verla's honor to Harmony Cemetery or Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
