He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert B. Luchtefeld and Helen E. Luchtefeld (Kenter). He is survived by: his wife Patty Luchtefeld of Mt. Zion; his children, Katie Eytchison (Rob) of Decatur and Benjamin Luchtefeld (Samantha) of Champaign; his grandson Lawton Eytchison; and his sisters, Barbara Hopgood of Springfield, Karen Locke (Don) of Redlands and Janet McClure (Mike) of Taylorville. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 14th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Rock Springs Nature Center (3939 Nearing Ln, Decatur, IL 62521).
