He was predeceased by: his parents, Delmar Gossett and Anna Gossett (McCaslin); his brother James; and his daughter Kara. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Schaefer; his children, Jeffrey Gossett (Darcy) of Du Quoin, Brent Gossett (Angie) of Coello and Amy Gossett of Mulkeytown; his grandchildren, Matthew Gossett (Maddi), Samuel Gossett (Meghan), Lori Horton (Daryl), Emily Clark (Payton), Maddie Jones (Bryce) and Grace Gossett (Cameron); his great grandchildren, Jude, Gabriel, Adlee, Titan, Ada, Nora, Lola and Grahm; his sister Susie Osborn (Robert); and his sisters-in-law, JoAnn Gossett, Sandy Gilbert (Terry) and Joyce Bowman. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gilbert Funeral Home (209 N Emma St, Christopher, IL 62822). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mulkeytown Cemetery, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
