He was predeceased by: his parents, Arvil Read and Marie Read (Serles); his wife June Johnston; his siblings, Donald "Beanie" Read, Wayne Read, James Read and Nada Walters; and his great grandchild Weslie Grace Roule.
He is survived by: his children, Bill Read (Pam) of Momence, IL, Debbie Read of Finley, CA, Mary Teresa Read of Mulkeytown, IL, Kathie Rumsey of Grayville, IL and Ron Read of Mulkeytown, IL; and his nieces, Rita Koontz (Brian) and Helen Delorme (Jim). He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
