He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Gray and Mary Evelyn Gray (Mifflin); his daughter Kristy Russell; his son-in-law Kevin Joiner; his sister Lois Schultz (Bunny); and his brother-in-law Wayne Hughes.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Gray; his children, Regina Joiner and Joseph Russell Gray III (Krysty); and his son-in-law Kenny Russell. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home - Old (31 Memorial Dr, Murphysboro, IL 62966). A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 1:15 PM to 1:45 PM at the Alto Pass Cemetery.
In lieu of flower, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to the Jackson County VFW Post 7190 in Murphysboro.
