He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter A. Gher and Laurene E. Gher. He is survived by: his daughters, Julianna Johnson (Erik) and Krista Kirn (Jamie); his grandchildren, Troy Brown, Jackson Kirn and Grace Kirn; his brother Robert (Bob); and his nephew Alex.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Epiphany Lutheran Church (1501 W Chautauqua St, Carbondale, IL 62901).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Epiphany Lutheran Church.
