He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Shaffer and Irene Shaffer; and his brother James Shaffer. He is survived by: his wife Louise; his children, Russell Shaffer (Karen) of Moyock, NC, Janet McLaughlin (Bill) of Plainfield, IL and Caryl Mead (States) of Naperville, IL; his grandchildren, Alexander Shaffer (Chelsey), Jacob McLaughlin (Ginny), Andrew Shaffer (Marian), Daniel McLaughlin, Alyssa, Carter and Logan Mead; his great grandchildren, Grayson and Leo Schultz; and his sister Barbara Connor.
