He was loved and cherished by many people including: his fiancée Karen Kanew; his children, Virganice Spates (Juan Green), Bryan Ivy, Greg Spates, Jacquee Spates, Clarence Spates and Michael McCormick; his parents, Morris Spates and Jacqueline Spates; his grandchildren, Tiana, Zion, Carmen, Candice and Bryanna; and his siblings, Tonyu Spates and Mark Spates. He was also cherished by many loving nieces and nephews.
