She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Erich Schmerling and Hedwig Schmerling; her children, Gregory Holz (Teresa), Byron Holz (Lyssa) and Miriam Sen (Cameron); her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Holz, Kristin Kellar (Justin), David Sen, Jordan "Jay" Sen and Elizabeth "Lizzy" Holz; her great grandchild Claire Kellar; her siblings, Ekkehard Thies, Christiane Carlson-Thies (Stanley) and Edgar Thies; her husband Hermann; her grandson Nathaniel Sen; and her brother Friedhelm "Fred" Schmerling.
