He was predeceased by: his mother Beverly; his stepfather Matthew; and his grandmother Barbara. He is survived by: his siblings, David Young (Sandy) and Michele Hodgson (James); his siblings' children, Danielle, Calleigh, Alyssa and Nicholas; and his great-niece Rylee.

“I had known Jim since our Kmart days together. We shared a love of pizza and the White Sox and bonded instantly. I have so many fond memories with Jim (especially skipping work for the April Sox Opener) He was like a brother to me and loved by my family. He was who you would call a true friend - always listening, making you laugh, and just always being there for you. My deepest sympathy to his family, especially his sister Michele.
