He was predeceased by: his son John Emmett Gimpert; and his parents, John Gimpert and Evelyn Gimpert. He is survived by: his wife Sally Gimpert; his children, Katelyn Gimpert (Alex Rafael) and Sean Gimpert (Diane Romito); his grandchildren, Remi Rafael of Naperville, IL, Jack of Naperville, IL, Emmett of Naperville, IL and Molly Gimpert of Naperville, IL; and his siblings, Norene Elledge (late Michael), James Gimpert (Maria), Joseph Gimpert (Beverly) and Mary Wasielewski (Michael). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
