He was predeceased by: his parents, Antoni Szczech and Katherine Szczech; his parents-in-law, Louis P. and Lillian Riedy; his sister Julia Szczech; and his brothers-in-law, Richard Riedy (late Dorothy) and Jim Riedy (late Betty).

He is survived by: his wife Susan I. Szczech; his children, Jennifer Acquavella (late Frank) of Naperville, Michael Szczech of Chicago and Elisabeth Porter (Matthew) of Naperville; his grandchildren, Jaime Feder (Dan), Thomas Acquavella (Norma), Michael Anthony Acquavella, Michelle Heiser Szczech, Rebecca Heiser Szczech, Lily Mamo, Grace Mamo and Olivia Porter; his sister Christina Szczech Moss of Naperville; and his sister-in-law Joyce Riedy Mlyniec (late Tom) of Lisle.
