With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Edward A. Benz of Nebo, Illinois, who passed away on November 20, 2025 at the age of 92. He was predeceased by: his parents, Aloys Benz and Lela Miner Benz (Kampsville); his brother Lester Benz; his grandchildren, Carri and Derrick; his grandson-in-law Jack; and his siblings-in-law, Sharon, Edith, Beulah, Nellie, Leta, Lena, Edward, William and Russell.
He is survived by: his wife Willean Paula Howland of Anselm's Church; his children, Ralph Benz (Patricia) of Pleasant Hill, David Benz (Mary Kay) of Pleasant Hill, Patricia Busse (Steve) of Ottumwa, IA, Roger Benz (Kathleen) of Jacksonville and Robert Benz (Cheryl) of Pittsfield; his grandchildren, Dara, Amanda, Jennifer, Aaron, Jill, Ryan, Adam, Alex, Erin, Paula, Andrew, Meagan, Scott and Quentin; his brothers, Dale Benz (Nancy) of Champaign and Lloyd Benz of Varna; and his sister-in-law Judy Benz of Kampsville. He is also survived by 42 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren.
A prayer will be held on Monday, November 24th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill (302 Parkview St, Pleasant Hill, IL 62366). Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Anselm's Catholic Church (304 French Street, Kampsville, IL 62053).
