He is survived by: his wife Donna Cole of Neoga, Illinois; his daughters, Lisa McDowell (Dan) of Mattoon, Jennifer Ferrar Mattoon (Scott) and Rachel Rappe (Marty) of Sullivan, Illinois; his grandchildren, Garrett McDowell (Timothy Wallace), Tucker Rappe (Rylee Phillips), A. J. Rappe, Spencer Ferrar (Abbie Bonnstetter), Sam Ferrar and Lucy Ferrar; and his siblings, Dean Cole (Marvelle), Karen Whitley (Randy) and Ronnie Cole (Susan). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
