He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Wayne Adams and Lillian Mae Zimmerman (Waddle); his stepfather Samuel Zimmerman; his in-laws, Don and Halyeveren Graven; and his siblings, Beverly Jean Mejia (Adams) and Bradley Allen Adams.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Jean Adams; his sons, Rodney Lee Jr. Adams (April) and Derrick Everett Adams (Andrea); his grandsons, Cory Lee Adams, Justin Allen Adams and Gavin Tyler Adams; his siblings, John Keith Adams, Candice Sue McDonald (Moe), Karla Marie Whitney and Harold Gene Zimmerman; and his pet Luna Moon. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial donations in his honor may be given to the American Cancer Society of the charity of the donor's choice.
