Vicki Jean Kernan Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Vicki Jean Kernan of New Athens, Illinois, who passed away on September 4, 2025 at the age of 71. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Carroll Eugene Hornbeck and Mildred Laverne Murphy; and her sister Gina Mattison. She is survived by: her husband David Alan Kernan, Sr.; her children, Brenda Varnum of New Baden, IL, David Alan Kernan, Jr. (Kaitlin Jones) of Alton, IL and Amanda Kernan of New Athens, IL; her grandchildren, Allan Bernhardt (Amber), Brendan Bernhardt (Rylee), Blake Bernhardt (Julia), David Kernan III (Jessica), McKenzie Gann (Hunter), Aspen Kernan, Bryson Kernan and Blayne Kernan; her great grandchildren, Baylor Bernhardt, Bennett Bernhardt, Ira Gann, Barrett Kernan and Brayden Kernan; and her brothers, Leslie Hornbeck, Terry Hornbeck (Sue) and Carroll Hornbeck.
