He was predeceased by: his parents, William Short and Anais Whitaker Short; his daughter Debbie DeBacker; his grandson Andrew DeBacker; and his son-in-law Jim Hall.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Short of New Boston; his children, Vickie Hall of Coal Valley, Randy Short (Laura) of Oquawka and Cindy Short-Nelson (Dennis) of Joy; and his sister Delores Willets of Oquawka. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
