It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James L. Johnson (Newark, Illinois), who passed away on December 7, 2025, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Johnson and Helen Johnson (Anderson); his brother-in-law Glenn Estensen; and his nephew Matthew Estensen. He is survived by: his children, Aaron Johnson, Peter Johnson (Erika) and Sarah Acker (Christopher); his grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Seth, Elisabeth, Nora, Eli, Ayva, Chloe, Hudson, Hope, Caleb and Harrison; his close friend Debbie Dillon; his siblings, Marcia Nagel (Floyd), Gordie Johnson (Judy), Wayne Johnson (Vicki) and Kay Estensen; and his grandsons, Danne, Crew, Chris Estensen, Mike Kratzer and Stewart Slack.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Newark Lutheran Church (101 E Liberty St, Newark, IL 60541). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
