He was predeceased by: his parents, George Nichols and Eugenia Nichols; his sister Mary Weygandt; his brother-in-law Stephen Bass; his daughter-in-law Jackie Nichols; and his nephews, David Stahl and Jeffery Burr.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Burr Nichols; his sons, George Nichols (Susan) of Newman, Peter Nichols of Newman and Bruce Nichols (Karen) of Maryland Heights, MO.; and his sister Janet Bass of Fithian, IL. He is also survived by five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren, eight nieces, three nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made to the Indiana Center for Recovery – Alcohol and Drug Rehab, Shriner Children's Hospital, or Oakland Landmarks for the Dr. Hiram Rutherford Home.
