He was predeceased by: his parents, Nova Edward and Gwendolyn Mae Dodson (Niesler); and his sisters, Sandy Gibson and Norma Niemi. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Ann Dodson (Porter); his children, Aaron Dodson (Jill) of Effingham and Sarah Sheahan (Michael) of Katy, Texas; his grandchildren, Madelyn, Colin and Conor Sheahan; his stepgrandchildren, Evan Nerone of Champaign, Emma Thomas (June) of Quaker and Sydney; and his sisters, Brenda Clavin of Nokomis and Joyce Stoddard of Quincy. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home- Nokomis (200 E State St, Nokomis, IL 62075). Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society.
