He was predeceased by: his wife Diane Bussan (Wolf); his daughter Melissa; his parents, Nicholas Bussan and Anne Bussan (Mihm) of Galena; and his brother James Bussan of Galena.

He is survived by: his son Dr. Matt Bussan (Leila); his sister Nancy Schamper (Bussan) of Scales Mound; his children, Michelle Wagner (Wayne) of Boston, MA, Nick (Nikki) of Heyworth, John and Mark; and his granddaughters, Megan, Mikayla Wagner, Madison Fisher, Brooke Bussan, Trinity, Felicity and Grace Bussan. He is also survived by his children and grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Epiphany School's Music Program, or to the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute, at Massachusetts General Hospital.
