He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Roger Payton, Sr. and Ina Mae Payton (Fuggett). He is survived by: his sisters, Ellen Donnette Odems of Chicago and Willa Macia Peterson (Gerald) of Tampa, Florida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
