He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Elvin and Katherine Murrell Dodson; his mother-in-law Nellie Fosdick; his nephews, Terry Lee Cole, Joey Garrett, Mikie Dodson and Tyson Dodson; and his brothers-in-law, Terry Cole, Ben Taylor and Eddie Fosdick.

He is survived by: his wife Nelda Fosdick of Normal; his children, Gidget Dodson, Heidi Hicks (Norm), Misty Dodson, Jodie Dodson, Sylvia Ashenbremer (Craig) and Franklin II Dodson (Krystal); his siblings, Jeannette Cole, Joyce Dodson, Linda Taylor, Jack Dodson (Lucy), David Dodson (Debbie) and Michael Dodson (Brenda); and his siblings-in-law, Rosie Oltremari (Paul), Sharon Fosdick Fesmire and Frankie Fosdick (Pam). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
