He was predeceased by : his parents, Frederick August and Hedwig Julia Gehweiler Schuerg; his siblings, Wilma Hannon and Robert Schuerg; and his son-in-law Sam Surratt.

He is survived by : his children, Donna Schuerg-Surratt of Westminster, CO, Jennifer Taylor (Wayne) of Normal, IL and Fred Schuerg (Barbara) of New Lenox, IL; his grandchildren, Brittany Lawler (Ryan) of Normal, IL, Brandon Taylor of Peoria, IL and Tyler Schuerg of New Lenox, IL; his great grandchildren, Lillian and Jayce Lawler of Normal, IL; his goddaughter Sue Slanicky of Tinley Park, IL; and his close friend Tonia Reeder. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
