He was predeceased by: his parents, Miles Armstrong and Opal Rich Armstrong. He is survived by: his wife Jerry; and his sons, Steven (Becky) of Huntley, Rex (Cynthia) of Bloomington and Patrick (Chris) of Normal. He is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
