John Cox Obituary
We are sad to announce that on May 3, 2026, at the age of 84, John Cox of Normal, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Kenneth and Corona Mary Cox (Snyder); his spouse Lynn A. Oertwig; his brothers, Tony Cox, Thomas Cox, Robert Cox and Joseph Cox; and his brother-in-law Jim Martin.
He is survived by: his daughter Becky LaMont (Bart) of Ellsworth; his grandsons, Alex LaMont (Megan Hanlin) and Brady LaMont; his siblings, Randy Cox (Nora Kilby) of Bloomington, Cathy Martin of Normal, Pat Nelson (Mike) of Bloomington, Michael Cox of Bloomington and Susie Johnson of Bloomington; and his sisters-in-law, Lynda Cox of Yorkville and Pam Cox Mills (Dennis) of Normal. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 6th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home (1800 Eastland Dr, Bloomington, IL 61704). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Epiphany Catholic Church (1000 E College Ave, Normal, IL 61761).
Memorials may be made to Epiphany Catholic Church or the Bloomington-Normal Bass Club.
