He was predeceased by: his grandmother Opal Leach; his father James Babcook; his parents-in-law, Hiram and Anna Walters; his siblings-in-law, Cathy Smith and Rusty Smith; and his half-brother Brian.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Smith (Walters) of Norris City, IL; his mother Norma Babcook (Martin) of Springfield, IL; his children, Malinda Ann Nelson of Norris City, IL and Racheal Jean Stokes (Shain) of Norris City, IL; his siblings, Jimmy Lee Smith, Yvonne Williams (Danny), Rita Smith, Sherry Grant, Robbie Smith, Tommy Smith, Brad Babcook (Mary), Ann Babcook, Lisa and Charleston Smith; and his grandchildren, Dr. Wyatt Andrew Nelson (Summer Sparks), Mitchell Lynn Nelson, William Lane Thompson and Sadie Jean Stokes.
