He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Orvilla Gales; his stepchildren, Linda Tompkins (Michael) and Michael Wong (Bernadette); his grandchildren, Christopher Tompkins (Rhyen), Jennifer Tompkins (Matthew Sitter), Jonathan Wong and Sarah Wong (Brian Lena); his great grandchildren, Rhys and Henry Tompkins; his sister Rita Rak (Stanley); his nephew Stanton Rak; and his niece Sheryl D'Amato.
