He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Edward Tiesenga; his spouse Ardythe Tiesenga; his children, Jane (Bruce), Edward Tiesenga (Elizabeth), Mary Middleton (Jeremy), Frederick (Jucy) and Anne Tiesenga; his grandchildren, Sarah Alvin (Jonathan), Marta Tiesenga, Elizabeth Fusick (Jeff), Jonathan Dillon (Katherine), Rebecca (John), Stephen Dillon (Corissa), Elisabeth Middleton, Nicholas Middleton, Austin Tiesenga, Hannah Tiesenga and Jennifer Tiesenga Carreon; his great grandchildren, Soren Alvin, Hans Alvin, Theodore Fusick, Oliver Fusick, Alexander Sarette, Charles Sarette and Phoebe Dillon; and his siblings, Jacob, Frank and Dorothy Cutrer (Ray) of Algonquin, Illinois.. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
