He was predeceased by: his parents, Esther Brendel and Robert Brendel. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Hartwick; his children, Lora Poucher (Edward), Marcia Asdal, Robert Jr. (Xia Kui), Janet Carey (Clark) and Gail Viechnicki (Peter); and his siblings, Merilyn Burgess and Richard Brendel (Anne). He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
