George Robert Blakey Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of George Robert Blakey of Oak Park, Illinois, born in Burlington, North Carolina, who passed away on May 1, 2026 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Elaine Menard Blakey; his son Matthew Menard Blakey; his parents, Lewis James and Malatia Myrtle Horrigan; his brother Lewis Horrigan Blakey; and his grandfather Gramps (GRob).
He is survived by: his children, Michael Herman Blakey, Elizabeth Elaine Blakey, Anne Marie Blakey, John Robert Blakey (Christina), Katherine Blakey Cox (Michael), Christine Blakey Coury and Margaret Blakey Clarke (Kevin); his great grandchildren, Katya Blakey, Alexander Martinez, Blakey Wilkins, Brandt Wilkins, Liv Wilkins, Joseph Blakey, Charles Blakey, Daniel Blakey, George Blakey, Jacqueline Cox, Kelly Cox, Julia Cox, Charlotte Cox, Joseph Coury, Anthony Coury, Jonathan Coury, Eoin Clarke, Aidan Clarke, Elaine Clarke and Declan Clarke; and his grandchild M's. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kaniewski Funeral Home (3545 N Bendix Dr, South Bend, IN 46628). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, July 15th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart (101 Basilica Dr, Notre Dame, IN 46556).
