We announce the death of George E. Whitling of Oakland, Illinois, who passed away on September 3, 2026, at the age of 89. George will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Eugene and Letha Whitling (Chickadonz); his wife Charlene Ann Nichols; his brother-in-law Eddie Bolin; and his nephew Jim Bolin.
He is survived by: his children, Lisa Taylor (John) of Oakland, IL and Michael Whitling (Kari) of Springfield, IL; his siblings, Harold Whitling (MaryEllen) of Casey, IL and Judy Bolin of Casey, IL; his grandchildren, Jase Taylor (Marissa) and Kyle Taylor (Hanna); and his great grandchildren, Jaxsyn, Owen, Everly and Ivy Taylor. He is also survived by one nephew and two nieces.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Krabel Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Oakland (215 E Main St, Oakland, IL 61943). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
For those who wish, memorials in George's honor may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church or the Oakland Food Pantry.
