He was predeceased by: his father Herman (Gertrude); his siblings, Ruth Parker and James Larry Schmieding; and his brothers-in-law, Richard Rader and Robert Rader.
He is survived by: his wife Suzanne K.; his sons, Timothy Schmieding (Melanie) of Denver and Christopher Schmieding (Rebecca) of O'Fallon, Ill; his grandchildren, Jack Schmieding, Aubrey Schmieding, Wyatt Schmieding and Ian Freeman; his sister Mary Ann Steinbeck; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Schmieding and Steven Rader. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (1810 McClintock Ave, Belleville, IL 62221).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Music Fund.
