He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Aaron Wilson and Lucy Wilson Kennedy (Knight); his grandson Lewis David Higgins Jr.; his parents-in-law, Samuel and Joy Turpin-Vaughn; his brothers, James W Wilson and Charles Eddie Wilson; his siblings-in-law, Lowell Atwood, Robert Turpin, Kenneth Turpin and Frieda Wilson; his nephew Steven Atwood, Sr.; his nieces, Cheryl Allison and Betty Brown; and also Rev. Herbert "Doc" Kennedy.
He is survived by: his wife Lena Wilson (Turpin) of Olney; his children, Joey E. Wilson (Randi) of Olney and Penny Jo Higgins of Olney; his grandchildren, Joshua Joe Wilson of Olney and Samantha Jo Higgins (Andrew Neal) of Olney; his great grandchildren, Rolen Keith Wilson (Icesis Russell), Brady Joe Wilson, Aven Rex Wilson and Cooper Joe Neal; his great great grandchild Sophia May Wilson; and his sisters, Ina Atwood and Judith Crask (JD). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home (205 E Elm St, Olney, IL 62450). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Maple Dale Cemetery.
